Overview

Are you a journalism editor and leader, wanting to make a difference and help develop award-winning reporters who have a passion for news? Then Cascade PBS is the place for you. We are a unique non-profit newsroom focused on in-depth investigative work as well as state and local politics. Our goal is to create longform journalism that keeps those in power accountable.

We are looking for someone to help lead, develop and grow our digital journalism at Cascade PBS. Someone who understands this is not just a “set it and forget it” type of newsroom. A person who will bring their own ideas to the table, incorporate them with our current vision and help chart a course to even stronger, impactful journalism.

Some of the things we are looking for:

  • 3-5 years experience as a hands-on editor, or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing small to medium news desks.
  • Experience writing newsletters.
  • Someone able to use analytics to help strategically develop content.
  • Previous experience at a daily or weekly newspaper.
  • Familiarity with digital news products, including social, video and podcast.
  • Ideally, someone with knowledge of working with PBS or other nonprofit newsrooms.
  • Has a deep passion for news beyond the surface.

We encourage everyone interested in this role to apply even if you don’t meet all of the requirements.

The editor will be based in Seattle. The position offers some remote work opportunities, but managers are expected to be in the office at least 1-2 times a week.

We are leaving no stone unturned in our search.  This next news editor will be a critical part of what we do next and will have a huge impact on the future of journalism at Cascade PBS.  If YOU believe you are that person, don’t wait… apply today! View the full job description here
