The videographer will work with the Director of Original Productions, Production Manager, Technical Production Manager, and video producers to plan and shoot video in field and studio environments. They will bring creative vision and technical expertise to drive the visuals behind our short-form and long-form storytelling, reach a larger audience and increase our impact on the community while demonstrating Cascade PBS’s values of integrity, community, innovation, and diversity.

Hourly Rate $29.74 - $32.69 (Full-Time Position)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

· Set up and operate various types of cameras, video recorders, audio equipment and lighting in both field and studio environments   

· Ensure that equipment is operable, available and prepared for shoots

· Maintain and keep inventory of video, audio and lighting equipment

· Work with Director of Original Productions and lead producer to create shot lists and production logistics

· Manage all technical aspects of shooting including lighting, audio and camera operation.

· Evaluate equipment, report technical discrepancies to Technical Production Manager and recommend equipment upgrades

· Assist Producers in field-production

· Ability to interpret the vision of the Director of Original Productions and lead producer and execute in the field by capturing the audio and visuals necessary to tell the story.

· Potentially complete light editing of footage in post-production

· Create and archive masters

· Collaborate with other team members to foster a positive and productive culture and contribute toward the overall growth of Cascade PBS

· Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

· Experience with documentary-style storytelling strongly preferred

· Demonstrates creative and non-traditional competencies and approaches to storytelling

· The ability to recognize compelling stories while filming and help further the story through lens work and on-set producing

· The ability to be adaptable and troubleshoot on production as things often don’t go as planned.

· Work both independently and collaboratively

· Organize time, materials, and information for quality and efficiency 

· Exhibit good communication and problem-solving skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· BA Degree in Communications, Media Production or related field or equivalent experience required

· At least 4 years of experience behind a camera in field and studio environments 

· Advanced knowledge of professional non-linear editing software, AVID Media Composer and Adobe Premiere strongly preferred

· Drone Op license/certification is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to view data on a computer screen for long periods of time.

· Ability to type on a keyboard for long periods of time.

· Ability to hear and distinguish colors required.

· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

· Ability to work some evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

· Videographer must lift and carry 50 pounds of equipment (handheld camera, lighting, tripods, etc.) unassisted.

· Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable means of transportation to meet requirements of the job
