The negotiation session began with Ben Berger as the interim Guild negotiator, as the previous session was the last with Katie Gillespie.
After engaging in some administrative matters, the Company gave the union proposals for Article XV Equipment and Article XIX LayOff and Recall.
After discussing those two Articles, Cascade presented its economic proposal.
There were three Articles tentatively agreed to by the Guild and Cascade. They included Article XVIII: Outside Activity, Article XVI: Events, Article XVII: Employee Bylines.
There was a discussion regarding Article XXV.
Next dates for negotiations were agreed to October 24 and 30, and November 7.

CPM and the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Guild met for contract bargaining on September 11, 2024.
Management presented the following Proposals to the Guild:
Events Bylines, Outside Activity, Joint Guild Management Committee, Savings Clause, Complete Agreement, Transfers and Promotions, Professional Development, Transportation and Parking, Extension of current CBA.
Discussions included:

- Review of status of all Contract Articles
- Guild Representative Katie Gillespie’s last day and the posting of her open position.
After Caucusing, the following 12 Articles were Tentatively Agreed to by both parties:
Preamble, Recognition, Health and Safety, Non-Discrimination, Grievance Procedure, Union Orientation and Information, Complete Agreement. Savings Clause, Joint Guild Management, Transfers and Promotions, Management Rights, No Strike No Walkout
